Our Services

  • Your annual eye exam is a critical and proactive health checkup. This exam goes beyond measuring visual acuity and assessing eyeglasses prescriptions. We evaluate the health of the eye by measuring eye pressures for glaucoma and inspecting internal structures like the retina and optic nerve. The annual exam is essential for early detection of serious diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration, as well as systemic conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure. Our annual eye exam includes an Optomap Retinal image— no dilation needed, and a visual field screening. If the optometrist detects any areas of concern, further testing may be recommended. Follow up services available in our office include extended visual field testing, periodic eye pressure checks, OCT scans, and dilations. These procedures allow the optometrist to detect and monitor eye conditions such as cataracts, macular degeneration, and glaucoma.

  • We are dedicated to providing you with a healthy and enjoyable contact lens experience. The contact lens evaluation is an additional service to the annual eye exam. It includes testing to determine the corneal curvature of each eye as well as the depth and quality of tear film. This information is combined with the information the patient provides regarding their needs and will enable Dr. Peterson to recommend specific contact lens material and wearing schedule for the most comfortable, functional, and healthy custom lens fit. Trial contact lenses are included with the contact lens evaluation fee, except for custom manufactured lenses that include a manufacturer’s warranty and more than four orders of trial lenses. We include training on the insertion and removal of the lenses, plus cleaning solution and a storage container for your contact lenses. The contact lens exam fee includes follow up visits with the doctor during the trial lens period. Dr. Peterson will perform as many trial contact lens checks as needed over the course of three months to be certain the lenses are comfortable and functional for the patient and not adversely affecting eye health.

  • Dry eyes can be a nuisance, but the condition known as Dry Eye Disease can be a serious condition affecting your quality of life, visual function, and even surgical outcomes. Its prevalence is rising and the causes are many—including increased screen time, environmental factors, systemic health issues and age. With testing conducted during your eye exam, Dr. Peterson can assess the severity of dry eye and develop a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs. This may include artificial tears, prescription eye drops, or more advanced therapies such as punctal plugs. Regular check-ups are important for monitoring your progress. If left untreated, dry eyes can lead to serious issues like corneal damage or chronic inflammation.

  • Glaucoma is a serious disease that can rob your vision. The good news is, at Kenneth A. Peterson OD, we have the ability to detect glaucoma early and impede its progress. Dr. Peterson is certified in treating glaucoma. In our office, we monitor eye pressure, test peripheral vision, examine the optic nerve head with the Optomap and OCT scans, and prescribe eye drops or other options to treat glaucoma.

  • We have many patients who wonder if they’re good candidates for LASIK surgery, or if it’s time to have their cataracts removed. Dr. Peterson assists our patients in these decisions, recommends local surgeons, then works closely with the surgeon on pre-operative and post-operative care.

Eye Exam Technology

Advanced Retinal Imaging with Optos

We use Optos® retinal imaging to capture a wide-field view of your eye health, often without the need for dilation. This quick, comfortable, and non-invasive technology allows our doctor to detect early signs of eye disease that may not be visible during a standard exam. By monitoring changes over time, Optos helps support proactive, long-term vision care.

OCT Glaucoma Screening

Our practice uses Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) to evaluate the optic nerve and detect early signs of glaucoma. This quick, non-invasive scan provides detailed cross-sectional images that help us monitor changes over time and support early intervention. OCT screening allows for more precise, proactive management of your eye health.
