Meet The Team
Kenneth A. Peterson, O.D.
Dr. Peterson graduated from Fresno State University with a B.A. in Biology and earned his doctorate at the University of California School of Optometry in 1992.
In 1995, he purchased the independent optometry practice of Dr. Jack Pence in the Village of Arroyo Grande. When it became time to modernize the practice, the small-town optometrist moved his office to the Pismo Medical Campus.
During his three-plus decades of practicing optometry, Dr. Peterson has diagnosed many eye conditions such as cataracts, macular degeneration, and glaucoma. He monitors and treats dry eyes, allergies, and glaucoma at his Pismo Beach office.
Ken (yes, it’s ok to call him that!) enjoys getting to know patients of all ages at his family optometry practice. Outside of the office, he loves cooking and volunteering at his church. College sports are also on his radar—on weekends you’ll find him rooting for his Fresno State Bulldogs and Cal Bears.
Ken has been married to his wife, Margie, since 1999. They have two sons and a daughter. Ken and Margie are living happily in their now-empty nest.
Margie Peterson
Margie comes to the practice with a background in producing television news and various forms of advertising.
Margie spent several years splitting her time between homeschooling their children and working part-time at the office. Now, she manages the front end of the practice, concentrating on fitting our customers in beautiful eyeglass frames and lenses.
Like Ken, Margie enjoys getting to know our customers, their occupations and their hobbies, making every eyewear purchase a very personalized experience.
On the weekends, Margie enjoys volunteering at her church and playing in the dirt, growing fruits and vegetables.
Johany, Ophthalmic Tech
Johany is our ophthalmic tech. He has a background in healthcare and has been with our practice for more than eight years.
Johany’s friendly and kind personality makes the eye-testing experience comfortable for our patients. Johany is great at fixing just about anything and is our in-house expert on eyeglass repairs.
He and his wife have three active children they are happily raising here on the Central Coast.
Insurance Coverage
Kenneth A. Peterson, OD is a Medicare provider.
It has always been our mission to provide the highest quality of care, with the latest technology, for all of our patients. During the 30 years Dr. Peterson, OD has owned this practice, we have found that working with multiple insurance plans creates significant administrative challenges and limitations. For this reason we have recently made a big change in our practice. We no longer accept most insurance plans, including VSP.
We only accept traditional Medicare with or without a supplement plan. Operating with fewer third-party restrictions means Dr. Peterson can truly prioritize your eye health and vision.
Please note that this will not affect your ability to receive care at our practice; however, you will be responsible for the costs of services at the time of your visit unless they are covered by Medicare. We also provide an itemized receipt and the necessary codes to assist you with submitting out-of-network claims.
